The Joseline Memorial Health Centre, so named for the amazing woman who had a vision for her community to be able to access medical and health care close to home and school.
In 2019 , with the help of some generous donations from sponsors/supporters, as well as funds raised from various events, we commenced the construction of a health centre just down the hill from FGNP School. This project came about because of the desperate need to have such a facility within reach of the students and the surrounding community. When children become sick or sustain an injury, it can be a couple of hours before transport is secured to collect a child and transfer them the 40 minutes into town to receive medical care. Our aim is to provide the initial quality care needed, prior to being transported to a larger hospital if further treatment is required.
As of early 2023 the health centre construction including toilet and kitchen facilities are almost complete and are on target for official opening in September 2023.
Ongoing funding through individuals or groups by way of sponsorship of the health centre, will allow us to cover the monthly running costs.
The Health Centre will provide general health care to the community. Including wound care, minor ailments and medication dispensary. It will also provide a space for visiting government services including immunisation and sexual health and wellbeing.
